Manon

Vocals

Synths/Piano

Manon started making music at a very early age. She had her first recorder lessons when she was 4 years old and began playing the piano at age 6. She mostly remembers the many hours of practice and her kind but stern teacher. "She was quite demanding, always pushing me to make the most out of my playing. I had trouble reading sheet music, but she taught me very well. What I remember most are the classical piano studies. I still find the things she taught me very useful today and I'm very grateful to have had her as my teacher."

As a child she often played together with Inge: she on the piano and Inge accompanying her on the violin. When they grew older they started creating and playing their own songs. Because they have played together so often for so long, they have a very good feel for each other's playing style, which is why it was immediately fairly easy for Inge to play along with us. "I already know before we start playing in which keys Inge prefers to play, so I can quickly adapt to that." They're also used to each other's improvisation style, which often amazes Birgitte.

During her teenage years Manon wrote and recorded (on cassette tapes) countless of songs. "I still have them and they're very dear to me. I put a part of myself into those songs and I have a hard time letting go of them. But I will probably record and release them someday. They're too good to be kept hidden."

When it turned out that Birgitte also had an interest in making music, they decided to give it a try to make music together. They immediately connected. "It's really amazing how good we can work together. My musical style is very dreamy and fairytale like and pretty slick (very commercial-sounding) while Birgitte's style is dark, melancholic and alternative. When our styles are blended it becomes very special and unique. I feel we complement each other perfectly."

Manon's musical influences are Dead Can Dance, Orbital, Kate Bush, and REM.
